红嘴巨鸥，大型水鸟，体长47~55厘米。夏羽前额、头顶、枕和冠羽黑色。后颈、尾上覆羽和尾白色，尾呈叉状。背、肩和翅上覆羽银灰色。眼先和眼及耳羽以下头侧白色；颏、喉和整个下体也为白色。冬羽和夏羽大致相似，但额和头顶白色，具黑色纵纹。有些头全为白色，仅耳区有黑色斑。上体较淡。
2019年6月18日，在皇华岛上拍摄到了红嘴巨鸥的照片，这是在重庆地区首次发现它的身影。
The Caspian Tern, a large aquatic bird, measures between 47 to 55 centimeters in length. During the summer, it’s forehead, crown, nape, and crest feathers are black. The back of the neck, upper tail coverts, and tail are white, with the tail being forked. The back, shoulders, and wing coverts are a silvery gray. The area in front of the eye, the eye itself, and the side of the head below the ear feathers are white, the chin, throat, and entire underparts are also white. In winter plumage, it is generally similar to the summer plumage, but the forehead and crown are white with black streaks. Some individuals have entirely white heads with only a black patch in the ear region. The upper parts are paler.
On June 18,2019, photographs of the Caspian Tern were taken on Huang Hua island, marking the first recorded sighting of this species in the Chong Qing region.
